Norbu Lama hails from the picturesque DOLPO Phoksundo region, where he spent his formative years immersed in its rich culture and landscape. Since 2014, he has been a stalwart in Nepal's tourism industry, driven by an unwavering passion for showcasing his homeland's treasures. His extensive experience navigating remote regions has endowed him with profound insights into Nepal's traditional lifestyle, culture, and breathtaking vistas.
During his schooling and village life, Norbu actively engaged with various local tour companies, serving as a guide and translator. His secondary education at Tapriza Secondary School in Dolpo Phoksundo laid the foundation for his journey. Graduating in 2012 AD, he pursued higher studies in Kathmandu, initially aspiring to become a conservationist. However, his deep connection to his homeland redirected his focus towards tourism.
Norbu's thirst for knowledge and penchant for sharing experiences led him to study intermediate General Science in Kathmandu. Subsequently, he returned to Dolpo, where he reignited his passion for guiding and managing his family-owned lodge, the Shey Phoksundo Gateway Hotel, nestled in Phoksundo Chhepka. His exposure to international tourists through his hotel sparked a keen interest in catering to the needs of global travelers.
In 2022, Norbu seized an opportunity to work in the Austrian mountains, where he honed his skills in international tourism. Over two enriching years, he immersed himself in diverse activities and explored the enchanting landscapes of Austria and neighboring countries. Inspired by his experiences, Norbu resolved to return to Nepal and establish his trekking company.
Today, Norbu Lama proudly leads his trekking company, supported by a team of dedicated local guides, porters, and lodge operators. With a multilingual proficiency encompassing Dolpo, Kham, Nepali, Hindi, Tibetan, English, and basic German, he is committed to providing unparalleled experiences that showcase the beauty and culture of Nepal to travelers from around the globe.
